Vancouver: August recap

Wow a week at home! It felt so nice to be in Vancouver for a full week. It was so nice to chill with Steven and Napoleon, and catch up with friends.

On Saturday I met up with the Trak Kayak crew who were doing a demo in Vancouver. I had been debating upgrading from my current kayak (foldable Oru Bay St) to a collapsible skin on frame kayak from Trak for a while and finally decided to bite the bullet! Kayaking is my favourite hobby and form of exercise. After renting lots of kayaks this summer (since the Oru has its limitations), I decided a kayak I could travel with was critical and went this route over a traditional fibreglass sea kayak. This Trak kayak is definitely sea worthy and will be great for kayak camp trips. I won’t get my kayak until the spring but attending the demo to practice the assembly process was fun and it’s getting me more and more excited this purchase.

Later that day, Katrina and I went wedding dress shopping with Ali – who looked amazing in everything she tried on! We had some drinks and apps beforehand at Pourhouse which was nice, and post-dress shop we met up with the boys at Katrina and Roberto’s for pizza and a game of mexican dominos.

On Monday, Melisa and her beyond adorable baby Aston came over for a coffee hang. It was so good to see them!!! In the evening, Reema, Markus and Tina came over for a rooftop BBQ. It was still a bit smokey but we had a nice sunset and a great catch up.

We celebrated Steven’s birthday by hitting the driving range on Wednesday, golfing Mylora on Thursday, and golfing Musquem on Friday. It was nice for Steven to have an extra long weekend and he somehow had the energy to golf again on Saturday with a buddy.

That same week we got together with Katrina, Roberto, Vera and Beau for dinner at Little Bird Dim Sum which was a lot of laughs. I caught up with Deanna on a seawall walk with Napoleon. And I kayaked and swam at Porteau Cove with Anth and Ali.

Sunday was mainly a packing day, getting ready for my roadtrip to Telegraph Cove and preparing the guest room for my mom who would be arriving the same day I got back! While it was a busy week catching up with everyone, I also had some nice lazy time at home just relaxing which felt great!
