New kayak: TRAK skin on frame kayak

I am beyond stoked to pick up my new TRAK kayak! I’ve been kayaking for four years with an Oru Bay ST and reached a point in my skill level where I was ready to upgrade to something else.

Living in an apartment, the foldable kayak options are pretty limited to choose from, especially if you want something sea worthy for some epic ocean expeditions that can store a good amount of kayak camping equipment. I don’t remember how I even discovered TRAK, but it was exactly what I was looking for. The company is based out of Nanaimo which is cool for them to be so close by, and I was able to join them on a few test paddles in Vancouver before pulling the trigger. TRAK was really great about hooking me up with loaner kayaks while I eagerly awaited my new kayak. I bought in August with an expected delivery date in April, and picked up my baby May 4!! It was great to meet other new TRAK owners at the kayak pick up event and have made some new paddling friends which is great!

I already have a big kayaking trip planned with my new kayak in a few weeks – kayaking the Broken Group islands in the Pacific Rim National Park, off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Can’t wait!
