Norway: kayaking Nærøyfjord Day 1

Today we finally got into our kayaks and started the guided kayaking/hiking tour in Nærøyfjord. Nærøyfjord is one of the narrowest fjords in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We started in Gudvangen and kayaked to Dyrdal where we set up our camp for the next two nights. The fjords were absolutely spectacular – more waterfalls than you can count, calm flat water, and little farms sprinkled along the water in the middle of nowhere. We stopped to fill our water bottles from a massive waterfall and it was the most delicious water I’ve ever tasted in my life. The group on the tour were really nice and we had a great camp dinner of sausages, pork chops, pasta, and garlic bread. The sun doesn’t set until 11pm and even then, it doesn’t get very dark at all but we still had to try to sleep as we had a big day ahead of us hiking.
