Norway: stunning train trip from Oslo to Bergen

It was an early morning to catch my flight to Oslo – I had a few hours to kill before my train to Bergen and went for lunch. I had pasta with reindeer, bacon, parmesan and chanterelle sauce – it was so good! One of my favourite meals this whole trip. I expected it to taste gamey but it was similar to steak. Hoping to try it again while I’m here. The train was 7 hours from Oslo to Bergen, I could have flown but the train is highly recommended as it’s very scenic and I am so glad I booked it! It was absolutely stunning – I was basking in the sun, listening to music and watching the terrain and temperature change wildly. I did not expect to turn a corner and it be like an arctic wonderland. The best part was that train was quite empty so I could bounce between sides of the train depending on which side had the better view. After such an early start and my guided kayaking trip starting soon, I was dreading checking into my hostel. I booked it because I was being cheap at the time but I really wanted a good, uninterrupted sleep and found a last minute hotel. I’m currently comfortable in bed and so happy that I made that decision and will get to sleep in!
